Most of the day is left open to allow everyone to arrive to Costa Rica and make their way to our start hotel located in the neighborhood of Barrio Amon, in the capital city of San Jose. Your guides will already be at the hotel, likely enjoying a local Artisan beer and excited to meet another epic Envision Group! Check into your rooms and begin to explore this diverse city. At 6pm, meet and greet over drinks in the hotel lounge followed by our first group dinner at a famous restaurant, Cafe Mundo. Remainder of night free to explore local culture and nightlife!
Day 2, Sunday 17th: (San Jose)
Relaxing morning to wake up at your leisure and enjoy breakfast at the hotel. Most of the day has been left open
to allow everyone on tour to explore the city and acquire any last nick-necks before we blast towards the Caribbean
Coast on day 3. Optional City Tour with your guides around noon and group dinner back at the hotel after dark. Being
that it’s a Sunday, many things will be closed, which is good, because you’ll need a good night's rest before rafting the
Pacuare River tomorrow morning.
Day 3, Monday 18th: (San Jose to Puerto Viejo de Limon w/ Rafting En-Route)
Early breakfast at hotel before departing the city at 6:30am. Picking us up from the hotel is our private bus, which will be like our magic carpet for the remainder of the trip. After a beautiful drive through the Braulio Carillo National Park, we arrive to the water's edge and begin white-water-rafting. This class 3-5 rapids will carry us nearly 4-5 hours down to the Caribbean side of Costa Rica where we rejoin with our bus at the headquarters of the rating company, and then drive a few more hours to our destination of Puerto Viejo de Limon. Upon arriving, we will check into our beachfront hotel and have some time to relax after a long and physically challenging day. Group dinner and DJ party at our hotel with free time for the night-owls to explore this funky reggae town.
Day 4, Tuesday 19th: (Puerto Viejo de Limon)
Wake up to the sound of crashing waves and Howler Monkeys as we start day four. Breakfast served at hotel
with free morning to enjoy this very special place! Just before Noon, we will gather again as a group to experience The
Jaguar Rescue Center, a well intentioned and run rehabilitation center for animals in the region that need a little help.
It’s a great organization that really makes a profound positive impact and we love to support jungle friends who reside
With a full day still ahead of us, we’ll make our way to Punta Uva Beach for some fun in this tropical setting. In
the evening we are set to drive back to our hotel and relax before heading out into town for a special group dinner and
music party at our local friends Fusion Restaurant. Remainder of night free to have just as much fun as possible….
Day 5, Wed. 20th: (Puerto Viejo to Punta Mona)
Breakfast at our hotel followed by a short 30 min. drive South to the town of Manzanillo where the road goes no further. Local nature guides will split our large group into 2 smaller groups and each set out on the famous and beautiful jungle-coastal hike to Punta Mona Center for Sustainable Living. This scenic trail zig-zags in and out of the jungle onto the beach making it a hike to remember! All luggage will be taken by boat out ahead of the group, which frees everyone up to really enjoy the hike. Arrive to Punta Mona in-time for lunch and local fruits. All will check into their special off-grid cabins followed by an orientation tour so as to get acquainted with the eco-formula that makes Punta Mona such a special place. Group dinner after the sound of the conch shell echoes through the air. Remainder of night free to relish in the magic and connect with the stars and coastal jungle environment.
Days 6-7, Thur. 21- Fri. 22: (2 more epic nights at Punta Mona)
Remaining two days naturally unfold as the Punta Mona Tribe curate hands-on activities of all sorts including permaculture farm tours, medicinal plant walks, yoga, cacao balls, kayaking… Nights are filled with lots of fun and connection, group meals, and music around the bond-fire. These 3 days and nights at Punta Mona are like nothing else, and no matter where we all come from, it’s easy to appreciate the natural mystic sure beauty of this place…so don’t be shy, not here; go DEEP!
Day 8, Sat. 23rd.: (Punta Mona to San Jose)
Final breakfast at Punta Mona as the morning sun rises out of the caribbean ocean, at least for those that wake up early with the jungle ;) Around 7:30 am we will depart via boat back to the town of Manzanillo, and reconnect with our magic carpet bus. First half of day left open to hang out and enjoy Puerto Viejo a bit more. Special visit to our chocolate friends at Caribbeans after 3 days off-grid, is usually a group favorite. Lunch is free for all to explore the many local options in this quaint town. By 1pm and with travel goods in-hand, we embark on a good long drive up to the Central Valley again where we stay just one more night in San Jose at the same hotel as days 1 and 2. Back in San Jose around Sunset and being that it’s Saturday night….we have a nice dinner planned in Barrio Escalante, the gastro-pub center of the city! Night-life carries on naturally.
Day 9, Sunday 24th: (San Jose to Manuel Antonio w/Eco-Villa En-Route)
After a nice breakfast at the hotel, we say good bye to the capital city of San Jose and make our way to the town of San Mateo-Orotina, where we are set to visit and explore two very different planned eco-communities; La Eco-Villa and Tacotal. After getting inspired with some eco-design, and swimming in the Machuca River we’ll board back on our bus and make the final stretch to the Pacific Beach-Town of Manuel Antonio. At this point in our journeys we’ll have officially made it from Coast to Coast, and now have the pleasure of enjoying truly breathtaking sunsets! Group dinner at a local favorite, El Avion, which overlooks the Pacific Ocean and a perfect spot to catch our first sunset; and the food is good too ;) Party continues into the night as the town fills with other groups making their way to Envision 2019!
Day 10, Monday 25th: (Manuel Antonio)
All Day FREE to relax on the sunny beaches. Breakfast will be served at the hotel. At 1pm, for those wanting to gather as a group, we have an optional trip to Playa Conchal, a nice little secret hideaway cove with killer beaches. * Dinner and Lunch are not included today and have been left open for all to explore local options, and also the relaxation of eating in smaller sized groups.
Day 11, Tuesday 26th: (Manuel Antonio)
Breakfast at hotel followed by guided tour of one of the more famous National Parks here in Costa Rica, Manuel Antonio National Park! This is truly a special place full of natural wild-life. The tour of National Park drops us out right at the beaches where we’ll gather for a nice lunch at a local “Soda”, which in Costa Rica, are traditional local eateries. After another nice day on the beach we then make our way back to the hotel to freshen up, relax, and start the party; because tonight is officially the last night of the tour. Final Group dinner at another amazing restaurant upon the cliffs. Remainder of night free to enjoy with many other travelers who will have started to gather up and down the Pacific Coast.
Day 12, Wed. 27th: (Manuel Antonio to Punta Uvita and End of Envision Festival)
Wake up at your leisure and enjoy one final breakfast as a group. After check-out around Noon, we will board our bus and make the final drive South another couple of hours to the town of Punta Uvita where Envision Festival is taking place, but we are set to pass the entrance and spend a few hours enjoying the Waterfalls of Uvita. After several hours of relaxing and enjoying the many pools at the falls we then make one last short drive to the entrance for Envision Festival 2019, where we are are set to enter at 3pm. With so many new friends, and feeling super inspired from an epic journey, it’s time to say goodbye to our local driver and hello to whatever comes our way. Most of the festival will be arriving on Thursday the 28th, so take your Early-Bird Entrance and find that perfect camping spot and/or make your way to whatever accommodations you’ve organized.
Perfectly perched at the junction where the rainforest connects with pristine tropical beach, Rancho la Merced is everything that we could ask for and the true jewel of our invitation to Costa Rica. While just a short, two minute walk to the surf of Playa Hermosa, Rancho la Merced stands as a testament to the glory of Costa Rica’s untamed natural beauty presenting a jungle environment that can only exist here. After your Eco-Tour get ready to have the experience of a life-time where you make even more unforgettable memories.
I REALLY went all out and signed up for the Pre tour, VIP Camping, which I highly recommend, and the Post tour….just WOW! A week and a half of adventure and fun only to be dropped off at the most incredible Festival I’ve ever been to, then to the most incredible chill Hot-Springs and restaurants to decompress from all of the adventures I had just experienced!! I will never forget this amazing event or the tours that I attended and I highly recommend it, just remember one thing that you’ll never forget ….PURA VIDA!
